Shroud protection
WindBands keep concealment shrouds on the tower.
A WindBand is a reusable, RF transparent band that wraps a shroud and holds it on when fasteners loosen or fail. Three on a typical 10 ft shroud hold over 3,900 lbs, and each one comes off and goes back on in about a minute.
Why WindBands
Aging shrouds crack, loosen and blow off

Keep shrouds in place
Missing fasteners load the ones that are left. In modest wind a loose shroud can come off completely, and it rarely survives the fall.

Cut risk and liability
Towers stand near offices, schools, parks, roads and parking lots. Securing shrouds before a failure protects people and property below.

Save crane time on every visit
The crane is the expensive part. WindBands come off and go back on in about a minute, so every service visit takes less crew and crane time.
Features
Built to stay on the tower, and come off when you need it to
3,900+ lbs of holding strength
Three WindBands hold a typical 10 ft shroud even with missing fasteners or cracks, so a loose shroud never becomes a falling one.
Designed for 90+ mph winds
Shrouds stay secured through storms, so sites see fewer emergency repairs.
Under 5 minute install
The Lasso Loop sets each band from one spot with no circling the tower, so crews spend less time in the air.
About 1 minute to reinstall
Bands come off for service and go right back on, so there is no re-taping after any visit.
Indefinitely reusable
Bought once and reused on every visit, so the cost per tower drops every year they stay up.
RF transparent
Every component is RF transparent, so bands go wherever the shroud needs them without affecting the signal.
UV protected components
Designed for a 10+ year service life outdoors, so the hardware is not replaced every few years.
Fits 18 to 100 in towers
Three sizes cover most concealment towers, so one product works across a whole portfolio. Paintable to match the tower.
WindBands vs. the hurricane tape solution
Stronger, faster and reusable
The hurricane tape solution is pallet strapping and a buckle, hurricane tape wrapped by moving the bucket around the tower several times, then spray adhesive. It is redone on every service visit and repaired whenever it fails.

| Category | Hurricane tape solution | WindBands |
|---|---|---|
| Strength | About 135 lbs, where the strapping buckle fails in pull tests | 3,900+ lbs on a typical 10 ft shroud with 3 WindBands |
| Installation | Bucket circles the tower several times to wrap the tape | No circling. The Lasso Loop sets each band from one spot |
| Speed | Slow, tower must be dry, redone every visit | Under 5 min first install, about 1 min to reinstall |
| Reuse | Single use, cut off at every visit | Reusable indefinitely |
| Durability | Poor weather resistance, adhesion fails when damp or dirty | UV resistant, designed for 10+ years |
| 5 year cost per tower | $16,500 | $4,088 |
5 year cost includes materials, crew and crane time: 4 shrouds, 3 WindBands per shroud, 2 visits a year, $200/hr crew, $300/hr crane. Cost comparison (PDF) · Feature comparison (PDF)

FAQ
WindBand questions
How strong are WindBands?
Over 3,900 lbs (1,770 kg) ultimate strength for a typical 10 ft shroud with 3 WindBands, designed for 90+ mph winds.
Which towers and shrouds do they fit?
Sectional composite, fiberglass and polymer shrouds on concealment monopoles from 18 to 100 in (46 to 254 cm) in diameter.
How many WindBands does each shroud need?
2 for shrouds under 8 ft, 3 for 8 to 12 ft, 4 for over 12 to 16 ft.
Do WindBands block the signal?
No. Every component is RF transparent.
Can they be painted to match the tower?
Yes, with water-based acrylic paint. See page 7 of the User Guide.
Why not use the hurricane tape solution?
Strapping, a buckle, tape and spray adhesive have to be redone every visit, the bucket has to circle the tower, and the buckle fails at about 135 lbs. WindBands are reusable and cost about $4,088 per tower over 5 years vs. $16,500 for tape, mostly in saved crane time.
