WindBand Shroud Protection System
Cell Towers operate under demanding conditions. Materials are exposed to continuous strain from the elements. UV exposure, wind-driven vibrations, and flexing put any antenna shroud to the test. It is a given that, over time, structural cracks develop, increasing the risk of catastrophic shroud failure. A falling shroud puts people and property in danger.
The WindBand provides another line of defense to keep the canisters where they belong—on the tower! It is an engineered solution that uses high-strength and long-lasting materials and is installed in about 3 to 5 minutes. It wraps around the multi-section or cylindrical shroud, keeping it in place when fasteners are left out, when they begin to crack, and under high wind conditions.
After the initial installation, WindBands take less than a minute to remove or reinstall. Fast, easy and reusable!
Why Choose WindBands?
Tower Longevity: Keeping Shrouds in Place
As antenna bay concealment shrouds age, they crack, loosen, and fall off towers. Missing fasteners concentrate stress at remaining connection points. Combined with modest winds, poorly secured shrouds blow off completely. Once airborne, shrouds rarely survive impact and require costly, time-consuming replacement.
Minimize Risk and Liability
A falling shroud can cause a world of hurt in injuries and property damage. Often, towers are placed near people and property, such as at offices, schools, parks, roadways, highways, and parking lots. Improve cell tower site safety by securing shrouds before there is a problem. Why take a chance?
Significant Cost Savings
Tower shrouds cost thousands to replace, requiring installation crews and cranes or lifts. Extend shroud life and protect your investment with WindBands, an inexpensive solution that's easy and quick to install, preventing expensive replacements before problems occur. Although initially more expensive than a "Hurricane" tape solution, WindBands are reusable and reinstall in one minute saving contractors and owners big on labor and material costs. Recommended Products
Lasso Loops and Installation Kits are sold separately to provide flexibility in your ordering.
Lasso Loop
We strongly recommend purchasing one Lasso Loop per tower, as these components remain permanently installed at each site for ongoing flag changes and maintenance.
Installation Tool Kit
While highly recommended for installations, Installation Kits are designed for reuse and can be transported between various tower sites.
Documentation
Weather-Proof Reinstallation and Product Information placard for tower base. Step-by-step installation instructions and QR code links to video tutorials for on-site guidance.
WindBand Size/Quantity Calculator
Placing an Order
1. Review tower drawings or as-built measurements to determine:
a. The number of antenna shroud bays
b. Shroud/Canister diameter
c. Shroud length
2. Refer to the WindBand Size Calculator to determine the correct size and amount of WindBands needed for your tower.
3. Order the number of WindBand needed for the tower.
4. Remember to order a WindBand Installation Toolkit and Lasso Loop! 1 per tower is highly recommended for the perfect installation.
Example Order
1. The following tower has 4 antenna shroud bays. The shrouds all measure 36” in diameter by 10 ft long.
2. Using the WindBand Size Calculator, you will see that the Standard Length WindBand is for antenna shroud bays 18” to 50” in diameter, and 3 WindBands are needed for a shroud that is 8’ to 12’ long.
3. Order (12) Standard Length WindBands (P/N 110757).
4. Order (1) Standard Length Lasso Loop (P/N 110801).
5. Order (1) WindBand Installation Toolkit (P/N 110759).
